Community College Internships at ORNL help connect community college students to opportunities to gain experience in technical fields in spring, summer and fall terms.

ORNL participates in the Department of Energy Community College Internships (CCI)

The Community College Internships (CCI) program seeks to encourage community college students to enter technical careers relevant to the DOE mission by providing technical and engineering training experiences. As the largest U.S. Department of Energy science and energy laboratory, ORNL is a great place to gain experience in information technology, facilities and operations, human resources, marketing, graphic design, data analytics, cybersecurity, legal counsel, communications, finance, health services, and many other professional fields.

Program Details

  • Full time and take place in-person on the ORNL campus.
  • Spring and fall experiences are 16 weeks.
  • Summer experiences are 10 weeks.
  • All these opportunities offer the ability to extend your experience.

Eligibility Overview

  • Community college student
  • US citizen / LPR
  • GPA 3.0+
  • Age 18+
 

Pay and Allowances

  • Weekly stipend of $650*
  • Housing allowance of $250 per week
  • Up to $500 round-trip travel reimbursement to/from the lab if you live farther than 50 miles from Oak Ridge
*contingent upon full participation
