The Mentorship for Environmental Sciences Program (MES)

The Mentorship for Environmental Scholars Program (MES) is a collaboration between Pre-College University and the Department of Energy to provide 10-week summer internships for undergraduate students from underrepresented populations with interests in the STEM fields.

ORNL participates in the The Mentorship for Environmental Scholars Program.

The MES internship at ORNL aims to connect undergraduate students from underrepresented communities with an impactful experience in the environmental sciences at ORNL’s world-class facilities. This 10-week, on-site program allows for students to connect with fields including biotechnology, computer science, environmental science, business administration, physical science, and engineering.

Eligibility Overview

  • U.S. citizen
  • 3.0+ GPA
  • Rising sophomore, junior, or senior from an eligible Minority Serving Institution
  • Pursuing a degree in a STEM-related field, particularly those in environmental science fields
