Minority Educational Institution Student Partnership Program at ORNL (MEISPP)

The Minority Educational Institution Partnership Program (MEISPP) offers 12-week summer learning experiences at ORNL. This program allows undergraduate, graduate, and recent graduates in engineering, science, social sciences, and business the opportunity to support DOE’s mission.

ORNL participates in the Department of Energy’s Minority Educational institution Partnership Program .

The DOE’s MEISPP internship allows for underrepresented students of many educational levels to utilize DOE facilities and mentorship through a 12-week summer program. This program includes a 2-week virtual bootcamp to prepare students for their 10-week summer assignment at ORNL which can take place virtually or on-site.

Eligibility Overview

  • U.S. citizen.
  • GPA 3.0+
  • Age 18+
  • Earned more than 24 undergraduate semester hours
  • Undergraduate or graduate student enrolled full-time at an accredited Minority Serving Institution
  • Recent graduate up to 2 years after graduation
 

Pay and Allowances

  • Weekly stipend of $750-$1,150 dependent on education level
  • Housing allowance as determined by the program
  • Up to $1,000 travel reimbursement if current address is farther than 50 miles from Oak Ridge
