ORNL hosts Technical and Professional Interns.
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory Technical and Professional Internship Program (TPI) provides opportunities for undergraduate, graduate, and recent graduates to engage with ORNL projects and connect with ORNL researchers and professional staff. Technical and business professionals support achievements in science and technology by helping manage and operate research projects and activities. As the largest U.S. Department of Energy science and energy laboratory, ORNL is a great place to gain experience in information technology, facilities and operations, human resources, marketing, graphic design, data analytics, cyber security, legal counsel, communications, finance, health services, and many other professional fields.
Spring 2025 applications close October 23, 2024 11:59 PM ET.
Timelines
- 10–12-week, full-time summer experiences
- 16–20-week spring or fall experiences:
- on-site or remote
- either full or part time (if enrolled in full course load
- 12-month option for recent graduates
Eligibility Overview
- U.S. citizen/LPR
- 3.0+ GPA
- Meets one of the following requirements:
- enrolled in an undergraduate institution
- enrolled in a graduate program
- graduated with an AS, BS, or MS degree within the last 2 years
- a recently separated veteran
Pay and Allowances
- Weekly stipend of $750-950 per week dependent on education level.
- Housing allowance of $250 per week
- Up to $1,000 one-time travel reimbursement for round-trip travel to/from the lab if farther 50 miles from Oak Ridge
